Doris Jean Huber, 88, of Blakesburg, died at 11:10 p.m. November 8, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa after contracting Covid-19.

She was born August 24, 1932 in Monroe County, IA to Marion and Mabel Leonard Fisher. Doris married John Franklin Huber on June 27, 1953 and he preceded her in death on November 10, 2004.

A graduate of Moravia High School, Doris had worked at J.C. Penney’s in Ottumwa at the downtown location and Quincy Place Mall.

She was a member of Blakesburg Christian Church. Doris enjoyed gardening, playing Bingo, listening to country music and she never knew a stranger.

Surviving are her children, Debra “Deb” (Steven Craig) Breckenridge of Ottumwa and Gary “Huey” Huber of Blakesburg; daughter-in-law, Deb Simonsen Huber of Blakesburg; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Breckenridge of Blakesburg, Jena (Jason) Owens of Ankeny, Stephanie (Eric) Dorge of Blakesburg and Jesse Breckenridge of Ottumwa; 3 great-grandchildren, Jayden Owens, Matthew Dorge, and Vincent Dorge; siblings, Wayne (Margaret) Fisher of Blakesburg and Mary Louise Kudart of Ottumwa; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Matthew Dean Huber; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Matt and Myrtle Huber; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ted and Lavern Fricke, Beryl and Anita Proctor and Bob Kudart.

Limited open visitation will be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, November 13th and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, November 14th at Reece Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rfh-ia.com.

Private graveside services will be held at Blakesburg Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Blakesburg Historical Preservation Society.

Doris’ family would like to thank the staff at Timber Ridge and Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa for their care and support.
