Debbie was born on July 17, 1962 in Fairfield, Iowa to Kenneth “Don” and Connie J. (Woolums) Snakenberg.  She grew up in Packwood and graduated from Pekin High School in 1980.  Debbie married Greg Vorhies, and they later divorced.  They had two beautiful children together.

She worked for many years at Walmart and Books are Fun both in Fairfield.  In 2009, she moved to Colorado and returned shortly after her mother became ill.  On her return from Colorado, she moved to North Liberty and worked at the DuPont plant in Cedar Rapids.  In 2017, Debbie moved to South Dakota, and worked for Hubbell Feeds.  She was diagnosed with cancer for a second time in 2020, and moved back to Packwood to be closer to family.

Debbie loved her family and friends dearly. She cherished being able to spend time with them. She enjoyed tending to her plants, flowers, and watching the hummingbirds to help her pass the time. She was dedicated to walking in the footsteps of Jesus. Her faith was strong and it helped her through all of the tough times.

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Brandi Vorhies of Des Moines; a son, Bryce Vorhies of Fairfield; her father, Kenneth “Don” Snakenberg of Packwood; a brother, Randy (Laurie) Snakenberg of Center Point; nieces and nephews, Lexi, Jacob, Maci and Lucas Snakenberg; her beloved dog, Jax; and her granddogs Knox and Alinea.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Connie Snakenberg, a brother, Allen Loren Snakenberg, and all four of her grandparents.

The family wants to give a heartfelt thank you to Marty Chandler, Washington Hospice Compassus, and all of her friends who helped out during this trying time.
