Deadline Approaches to Apply for CVEC Youth Tour to DC

By Jason Van Arkel, February 21, 2019

Each summer, the Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative joins other electric cooperatives across the country to sponsor the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. As many as 1,500 high school students spend a week in June in Washington, D.C., learning about the United States, developing leadership skills and gaining a better understanding of electric cooperatives.

This year’s Youth Tour takes place June 14th through the 20th, and the application deadline is February 28th. The tour is open to any full-time sophmore, junior or senior that attends a high school located in the Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative service area. The CVEC serves Appanoose, Davis, Lucas, Marion, Monroe, Wapello and Wayne counties.

To apply, students should fill out the application, which can be found here, and mail it to:

Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc.
Attn:  Youth Tour
PO Box 486
Albia, IA  52531

Applications must be postmarked no later than February 28, 2019.
