David E. Van Alst of Stockport, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at the Jefferson County Health Center.

A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2022, the Stockport Community Center with words of comfort by Pastor Mike Renken. Memorials may be made to REM Group Home, Washington, Iowa.  Cards and memorials may be mailed to Doris Van Alst, 2951 268th Street, Stockport, Iowa 52651.

David was born July 20, 1942, in Toddville, Iowa to Earl L. and Georgia (Brown) Van Alst.  He married Doris Lindner September 25, 1961 at the First English Lutheran Church in Iowa City. They just celebrated 61 years of marriage.

David was a truck driver and worked 25 years for I-Deal Concrete.  He loved being outside riding his motorcycle, cutting wood, fishing, racoon hunting and deer hunting.  David enjoyed reading and liked his beer.  He was very proud of his family and looked forward to spending time with his kids, grandkids and friends.

David will be missed by his wife, Doris of Stockport; 3 children, Kimberly (Dave) Meredith, Melody Nelson and David E. Van Alst Jr.; 6 grandchildren, Nicholas Owens, Wendy Schilb, Samuel Schilb, Aaron Brobston, Amy Brobston and Alex Brobston; 9 great grandchildren; his siblings, Lavern, Jim, Dewane, Doug, Ed, Rhonda, Deb, Ginger, Carol, Janice and Marlene; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 siblings, Dennis, Tom and Diana; and nephew, Terry Larson.
