Craig L. Lanman was born April 2, 1934 in Floris, IA to Russell and Gladys Swaim Lanman. He attended rural school during his early years before entering the work force. He began working as a farmhand to help support the family. His love of farming would remain throughout his life. On August 8, 1954 in Oskaloosa, IA, Craig was united in marriage to the love of his life, Shirley Grosvenor. Together they raised three children, Cindy, Roger, and Michael. Craig supported the family by working on his farm near Drakesville. He was a jack of all trades, and spent time working construction and as a truck driver. Craig loved the outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, or coon hunting, which was often done as a family. When he wasn’t working or enjoying the river, he would take Shirley dancing. Craig was also a member of the Ottumwa Eagles Club. He was a tough guy who never complained, even during his illness. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Shirley (2010); one son, Roger (2019), one sister, Beverly Murdock and three brothers, Keith, Max, and David Lanman.

Left to share his story are his children, Cindy (Alan) Johnson of Bloomfield, IA and Mike (Sue Schaer) Lanman of Floris, IA; one daughter-in-law, Dawn Lanman of Norwalk, IA; four grandchildren, Andrew (Crystal) Lanman, Crystal McBurney, Matthew (Hilary) Lanman, and Kristoffer Johnson; four great grandchildren, Cayley and Caleb McBurney and Arabella and Corban Lanman; six siblings, Earl (Gail) Lanman, Carrol (Esther) Lanman, Raymond (Delorris) Lanman, Mary Webster, Sharon (Joe) Collier, and Janet Latta, as well as many extended family and friends.
