CPD: Armed Robber Currently At Large

UPDATE: One of the robbery suspects has been arrested.

19 year old Chad Short of Bloomfield was charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree (Class B Felony), Going Armed with Intent (Class D Felony) and Carrying Weapons (Aggravated Misdemeanor). Short is currently in the Appanoose County Jail.

Centerville Police are still searching for the second suspect.


Centerville Police are asking for the public’s help after a robbery suspect eluded capture Thursday night.

Authorities received a report of an armed robbery at Yes Way on North 18th Street in Centerville. The suspect fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect has been described as skinny, 5’4″ tall, wearing a ski mask and wielding a black pistol. No employees were injured during the alleged robbery.

Officers arrived on scene two minutes after the robbery was reported. Soon after, a person matching the suspect’s description was located near Lake Center Mall. The suspect ran into a wooded area and police lost contact with the alleged offender.

According to police, a perimeter was set up and the wooded area was searched thoroughly. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the suspect remains at large. Authorities believe that there is a second suspect in connection to this case as well.
