Comet Starter Arbogast Quiets Mustangs’ Bats, DC Season Comes to an End

Seniors Jentry Arbogast and Caden Hill faced off in a high-stakes pitching duel Tuesday afternoon in Eddyville but an unearned run was the only tally as Cardinal ended Davis County’s season, 1-0 in the district semifinals.

Arbogast kept Mustang batters off balance for most of the game, going the distance with a four-hit shutout. He didn’t allow a walk while striking out seven.

On the other side, Hill pitched into the 7th inning, allowing the unearned run in the 3rd inning. He also allow five hits, walked three, and struck out five.

Davis County mustered a rally in the 7th thanks to a one-out double by Hill. The senior was taken out for a pinch-runner who ended up stranded on third base after Arbogast induced two ground outs to end the game.

Davis County finishes their season at 5-8. Cardinal is 9-3 and will put their eight-game winning streak on the line Saturday night versus the winner of Albia and EBF in the district final.
