Columbus Junction Teacher Charged With Sexual Exploitation

By Jason Van Arkel, August 22, 2019

A southeast Iowa teacher faces a sexual misconduct charge, after being accused of inappropriate conduct towards a student.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety says Eusebio Jimenez, Jr. was arrested on Thursday and charged with one count of sexual exploitation by a school employee. Jimenez is a Spanish teacher for Columbus Community High School in Columbus Junction, and the school’s website also lists him as the head cheerleading coach.

Authorities say that, in November of 2018, a minor student reported being sexually exploited by the 33-year-old Jimenez. That report launched a joint investigation by the Columbus Junction Police Department, the Louisa County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa Department of Human Services, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Jimenez has been booked into the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office jail. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.

As a reminder, a criminal charge is only an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
