With spring weather here, the Wapello County Trails Council will be holding several clean-ups over the next month.
The council is inviting the community to join them in walking and cleaning up various trail sections starting on Saturday, April 10th. Volunteers will be meeting at the Gray Eagle parking lot at 8:00 AM and the cleanup is expected to last two hours. The Wapello Trails Council says both trails that link to the parking lot will be cleaned.
The council have three more clean up days scheduled:
- April 17 – Meet at the east side of Bridge View Center at 8 a.m. Clean up will focus on the 3.2-mile loop trail along the former Wabash Railroad spur, including Madison Ave.
- May 1- Meet at the parking lot in Ottumwa Park near the Rotary Exercise Park (across from the playground) at 8 a.m. Clean up will focus on the park, as well as the small trail spur behind Church St.
- May 8 – Meet at the levee trailhead parking lot off Quincy Avenue at 8 a.m. Trail clean-up will focus on the trail section between The Beach Ottumwa and Quincy Ave.
