City of Ottumwa Announces Polling Change

With the Ottumwa City Council Primary Election less than a week away, the city announced a change of the location of one of the polling places.

Precinct 4’s polling location used to be the Westgate Towers at 910 W. 2nd St in Ottumwa. The new polling site will be American Legion located at 550 W. Main St. in Ottumwa. All of the other polling locations will remain the same.

Here is the complete list of the places the public can vote in the primary (all locations are in Ottumwa unless noted):

  • Precinct 1: Penn Ave Free Methodist Church (820 E. Pennsylvania Ave)
  • Precinct 2: North Court Baptist Church (1411 N. Court St.)
  • Precinct 3: Great Prairie AEA (2814 N. Court St.)
  • Precinct 4: American Legion (550 W. Main St.)
  • Precinct 5: Wapello County Courthouse (101 W. 4th St.)
  • Precinct 6: Southoak Towers (102 Finley Ave)
  • Precinct 7: Davis Street Christian Church (202 S. Davis St.)
  • Precinct 8: Wapello County Rural Fire Department (714 W. Mary St.)
  • Precinct 9: Bible Baptist Church (944 W. Williams St.)
  • Precinct 10: Camelot Towers (827 Albia Rd.)
  • Eldon City: Eldon Library Hall (608 W. Elm St., Eldon)

The City Council Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, October 8 from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

There are five candidates that are vying for two city council seats:  Wes Crowder, Bob Meyers, Mark Peters,  John J.R. Richards, and Marc  Roe. The top four vote-getters will advance to the General Election on Tuesday, November 5.
