City Announces Memorial Day Closures


The City of Ottumwa has released a list of city services and departments that will be closed for the upcoming holiday.

Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 25th, and many city services will cease for the holiday, although city offices have already been closed to the public as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The following is a list of services and closures due to the holiday:

  • City of Ottumwa departments and offices at City Hall will be closed
  • The Ottumwa Public Library will be closed
  • Ottumwa Transit Authority Buses will not be operating
  • Ottumwa Water and Hydro offices will be closed
  • Ottumwa/Wapello Landfill will be closed Monday, but will be open normal hours on Saturday, May 23rd
  • The Recycling Center will be closed Monday
  • City residential trash pickup normally scheduled for Monday will be postponed to Tuesday, May 26th
  • South side yard waste and bulky item pick up day (normally Tuesday) will be postponed to Thursday
  • The Ottumwa, Calvary, and Jewish Cemetery office at 1302 N. Court will be closed through the weekend as well as Memorial Day
