Charles Farrell

Charles E. “Chuck” Farrell, 87, of Ottumwa, died at 6:13 p.m. March 6, 2019 at home.

He was born June 11, 1931 in Ottumwa to George Washington and Alberta Marie Parlee Farrell.  He married Norma Millhouse on January 30, 1953.

A 1950 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Chuck worked 35 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring as supervisor of the maintenance department in 1985.  He served with the Iowa Army National Guard Company C for 14 years.

He attended First Presbyterian Church and was active in church work. Chuck was a scout master and was active in scouting with his three sons.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Norma; his sons, Michael (Annette) Farrell of Ottumwa, Thomas (Donna) Farrell of Keokuk and Bradley (Nelena) Farrell of Alexandria, VA; 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Stephanie, Michelle, Kelly, Cecily and Corbin; 2 great-grandchildren, Scarlett and McKinley; 2 brothers, John (Ninian) Farrell of Ottumwa and David Farrell of California; a sister, Alberta “Bert” (Skip) Stevens of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Harry, William, Robert and George Farrell Jr.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jesse Elkins officiating.  Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Friday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
