Ottumwa Mayor Tom Lazio has confirmed that the Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation has taken over the operations of Ottumwa’s “Market on Main” facility, and that some significant changes are coming after the first of the year. The Ottumwa City Council will likely approve the take-over at tomorrow night’s meeting of the Council at City Hall.
Lazio said that, following the completion of the construction of the project at Jefferson and Main Streets in downtown Ottumwa, there has been significant employee turnover, lack of consistent hours of operation, lack of products for sale, and lack of patronage at the facility. In other words, Lazio said, the Market on Main has been somewhat disorganized in its operation.
The Legacy Foundation, Lazio said, has also hired the services of a Consultant from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to help stabilize the operation, and get it back on track in the future.
