A central Iowa mother was arrested after authorities say she moved her minor child in with the person charged with inappropriately touching the juvenile.
41-year-old Starla Klingel of Grinnell has been charged with child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Court records say sometime between December 16th, 2021, and January 4th, 2022, Klingel moved her child to a residence on South Ransom Street in Ottumwa. The address is rented to a known sex offender on Iowa’s Sex Offender Registry. The sex offender is on the registry because of indecent contact with a child charge, which happened to be Klingel’s child.
A warrant for Klingel’s arrest was issued on February 1st and she was taken into custody on April 1st.
Klingel is currently in the Wapello County Jail where she is being held on a $2,000 bond.
Klingel waived her preliminary hearing.
