Carol Sue Anderson, 65, of Ottumwa, died at 8:21 p.m. May 21, 2022 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born February 14, 1957 in Ottumwa to Merle Rex and Bernice Systma Slycord Sr. Carol married Carl Lee Anderson on November 12, 1983.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School and Ottumwa Heights College, Carol had worked as a medical transcriptionist at St. Joseph Hospital and at Collaborative Laboratory Control at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Carol also helped her husband at C&C Auto and had been a secretary at Eisenhower Elementary School, retiring in 2021.
Carol attended First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting, basket weaving and gardening. Carol greatly enjoyed retirement and getting together with her cousins in Oskaloosa.
Surviving is her husband, Carl; her brothers, Merle “Sonny” (Sherry) Slycord Jr. and Bryan Slycord both of Ottumwa; several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Kevan Slycord, Judy Slycord and Bonnie Turner.
Her body has been cremated. The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26th, at Reece Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27th, at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. For those unable to attend the service may be viewed on the Ottumwa First Lutheran Church Facebook page. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.
