Mike Hobbs, 62, of Ottumwa, died at 12:27 p.m. July 6, 2020 at his home. He was born September 9, 1957 in Ottumwa to
Kenneth and Nora Baker McCarty and was adopted by Lester and Genevieve McCarty Hobbs. He married Becky Reaves and later divorced, but remained friends.
Michael attended Ottumwa High School and served in the U.S. Army. He had worked for Iowa Malleable in Fairfield, for
Fairfield Community Schools and for the Ottumwa Courier as rural paper carrier. He enjoyed shuffleboard, bowling, hunting, fishing and watching sports.
Surviving are his children, Tiffany Hobbs and Tosha Hobbs, both of Ottumwa, and Joshua Hobbs of Fairfield; 4 grandchildren, Addi, Adian, Aleyda and Kade; 5 sisters, Yvonne Padget, Nadine Day, Leveda Cain, Barb Hoover, and
Carolyn Harsch; 2 brothers, Lester Hobbs Jr. and Ronald Hobbs; and his biological sister, Rosetta Jones.
He was preceded in death by his biological parents, his adoptive parents, and a sister, Izora Day.
His body has been cremated. Graveside services and inurnment will be 10 a.m. Friday at Shaul Cemetery
