Bertha I. Skinner, 80, of Ottumwa, died at 7:55 a.m. November 16, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born June 1, 1940 in Ottumwa to Fern and Agnes Breckenridge Howard. Bertha married Charles Skinner Jr. on May 29, 1969 and he preceded her in death on May 26, 2017.
A resident of Ottumwa all of her life, Bertha had worked as a C.N.A., Maid Rite and Ellis Tenderloins. She enjoyed her grandchildren.
She was a member of Life Church, formerly known as Bethel United Pentecostal Church.
Surviving are her children, Brian (Susan) Skinner of Wilson, NC, Theresa (Keith) Durst of Fairfield, Kim McClellan of Greensburg, IN, Cindy (Phil) Axtell of Oskaloosa and Nancy (Rick) Taylor of Ottumwa; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Carol Sue Rominger; 2 sisters, Dora Ware and Madeline Parker; 3 brothers, David, Kenny, and Lester Wayne Howard.
Limited open visitation for friends will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, November 19th at Reece Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rfh-ia.com.
Private funeral services will be held at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Allison officiating. For those not able to attend, you may watch the service live at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 20th from the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be at Ottumwa Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Life Church.
