The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to lock up their vehicles amidst reports of an individual rummaging through unlocked vehicles.
A representative from the sheriff’s office estimates a person “went through” eight or nine different vehicles on Monday night.
“So far really nothing much has been taken. They have passed up all kinds of things.”
The law enforcement officer says citizens in Van Buren County don’t usually lock their vehicles and on Monday night, someone entered multiple cars and riffled through the vehicles’ glove compartments and center consoles, leaving the contents in the front seats.
The officer says one citizen thinks they are missing some quarters and another believes their sunglasses were taken.
In the meantime, the office is requesting the public lock their vehicles while authorities try to determine who is committing the break-ins.
