Arrests Made in 2017 Fugitive Case

On Saturday, July 7, Bloomfield Police Department located a wanted fugitive and arrested him along with the former Bloomfield Main Street Director who was hiding him.

After a year-long search, Nathan Burk, 35, and Sara Leer, 35, were arrested on July 7 with court dates pending. Burk is still in custody while Leer paid her bond and was released until her court date.

Burk was apprehended after he was seen outside Leer’s residence owned on the city limits of Bloomfield. According to the Davis County Sheriff’s Department, a uniformed officer recognized Burk who ran into the residence. After calling for backup and getting permission from the building owner, the authorities performed a search of the property for Burk.

He was found hiding and arrested for his outstanding warrants from multiple counties including Mahaska and Davis County for drug charges.

Leer was arrested for charges relating to Burk once again. Her original arrest from May 7, and she was charged with possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Methamphetamine) and accessory after the fact. The charge was a first offense which is a Serious Misdemeanor. In Saturday’s arrest, she was charged with accessory after the fact once again.

Burk was arrested on his previous charges along with harassment of a Public Official.
