Last night, Appanoose County Public Health reported its highest single-day death toll since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
Health officials say 13 country residents died from COVID-19. 17 individuals have died from the virus in Appanoose County.
In a press release, Appanoose County Public Health said the COVID-19 website run by the Iowa Department of Public Health was displaying an inaccurate number of deaths for Appanoose County and county health officials released an accurate count in an effort of transparency.
All of the deceased were over the age of 61. Other than the age and sex of the departed, no other details were divulged.
Like most of Iowa, cases continue to rise in Appanoose County. Health officials say there were 15 additional positive cases on Monday which makes 398 active cases in the county.
