Anita Truitt, 91, of Ottumwa died at 6:17 p.m., May 28, 2022 at home.
She was born May 8, 1931 in Keokuk, IA to Rev. Arthur W. and Bertha Blanche Teter Truitt.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Anita attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. She had worked for Farmers and Merchants Bank and was the office manager for Wapello County ASCS, retiring in 1986. In her retirement she worked for Ken Steffen.
She attended Miller Chapel in her youth and later First Pentecostal Assembly of God and Hickory Grove Community Church. Anita loved singing and playing with Katie the dog.
Surviving are two brothers, Gerald (Jerry) Truitt of Indianola, Duane Truitt of Tennessee; a sister, Leolive Gail of Ottumwa; nieces and nephews, Gregory Smithart, Joy Songer, Lance Stater, Tonya King, Jeannie Perdue, Rebecca Wieczorek, Michelle Bryant and Lauren Truitt; many great-nieces and great-nephews including Andrea (Bill) Songer-Dudley who helped care for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nadine Stater.
Graveside services and burial will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 6th at Ottumwa Cemetery.
Visitation will be open after 9 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with her family present to greet friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
