Alice Huff

Alice Louise Huff, 69, of Milan, IL and formerly of Ottumwa, died September 26, 2018 at 5:12 a.m. at Unity Point Health-Trinity Rock Island in Rock Island, IL.

She was born May 27, 1949 in Colorado to Charles and Mable Thompson Reed.  She married the love of her life, Timothy A. Huff Sr. and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2007.

A 1967 graduate of Ottumwa High School, she earned a Machine Operator Degree from Indian Hills Community College and attended Scott Community College in Davenport for food management.

She worked at her mother’s daycare in her younger years.  She then worked for the Ammunition Plant in Burlington, FMC as a Machinist in Cedar Rapids, as head cook at the Davenport Lutheran Home and at Katun as a QA Inspector.

Alice was famous for her cooking.  She was stubborn and diligent at balancing her check book. She enjoyed reading romance novels, writing poetry, playing cards and bowling.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Tim (Marinda) Huff Jr. of Milan, IL, Todd (Bretina) Huff of Ottumwa and Tracy (Randy) Penrod of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Sue Smith of Ottumwa, Charlotte Williams, of Milan, IL and Dorothy Kempf.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 grandchildren, Jeremy and Kaylee Penrod; 2 brothers, Gene Reed and Albert Leon “Corky” Brumbaugh; a sister, Vicki Baugh; two nieces, Heather (Howe) Mooney and Glenda Reeves and a nephew, Curt Brumbaugh.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m.   Sunday at the funeral home with Dan Smith officiating.  Cremation will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to the family.
