An Agency man accused of shooting his father will plead guilty to lesser charges, according to court documents.
37-year-old David Nordyke III allegedly shot his father, David Nordyke Jr. during an argument last July. The elder Nordyke drove himself to the hospital and eventually recovered. The younger Nordyke was charged with attempted murder.
Earlier this week, Nordyke III agreed to plead guilty to assault, reckless use of a firearm, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon. Court documents say he will receive a suspended prison sentence.
Nordyke will also be required to receive mental health counseling and substance abuse treatment. Additionally, he must participate in any other treatments that the Veteran’s Administration recommends.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, court hearings have been suspended. A hearing is scheduled for July 20th for a judge to formally sign off on the deal.
