The city of Ottumwa held its city council meeting Tuesday evening.
Mayor Johnson proclaimed October 15, 2024 as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day for the city of Ottumwa. The public is encouraged to light a candle for awareness on October 15th at 7:00 p.m..
The City Council acknowledged TJ Maxx and the Ottumwa Community School District (OCSD) for their efforts in the community of hiring individuals with disabilities. TJ Maxx was recognized as a new employer in Ottumwa who has supported inclusive hiring practices and embraced the Ottumwa community. The OCSD was recognized for their continued support to not only practicing inclusive employment but exemplifying to students that employment is possible for all.
There are various other employers in the community that support “Access Good Jobs for All”. During the month of October, the City of Ottumwa would like to celebrate all employees with disabilities.
