The Ottumwa Police Department announced the Trick or Treat Night.
On October 31st, the Ottumwa Police Department says Trick or Treat Night is set for 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Homeowners or trick-or-treaters who feel ill are told not to participate. Parents are encouraged to dress their child in reflective clothing and alternatives to masks which can limit eyesight and be a hazard.
Police say homeowners should eliminate tripping hazards on their porch and walkways. Homeowners should also consider using battery operated jack-o’-lantern lights.
Authorities remind trick-or-treaters to check each treat thoroughly before eating. Police say participators should have a marked route for their child and always obey traffic laws. Trick-or-treaters should never assume the right of way on streets as motorists may have trouble seeing them.
Authorities ask motorists to drive slow in caution of children running in the street.
