The City of Ottumwa announced this year’s Spooky Nights and Lights Contest.
October 1, 2024 – The City Council, Mayor, and City Administrator are excited to announce the City of Ottumwa’s Second Annual Spooky Nights and Lights Contest! This contest is open to all residents of Ottumwa who love to get into the Halloween spirit. Whether a seasoned decorator or are just getting started, we want to see your spooky house.
To enter, sign up by October 15 by emailing Council Person Cara Galloway at [email protected] with your name and address. Addresses will be given only to our judges (to be named). The winner will be announced at the first November City Council meeting. The winner will receive a certificate and their name will be added to the first year’s winners, David and Debbie Truitt, on the Spooky Nights and Lights Plaque, located for all to see in City Hall.
Judging will occur October 28 through October 31. Our judges will be looking for creativity, spookiness, and overall Halloween spirit when evaluating the decorated houses. Be sure to include all the elements that make your house stand out!
