Vivian Viola Babcock, 87, of Ottumwa, died at 1:06 a.m. September 14, 2024 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born December 16, 1936 in Greenwood, NE to Robert F. and Genevieve Pearl Daughtery Leaver. She married Richard “Dick” L. Babcock August 6, 1961 and he preceded her in death October 27, 1980.
A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, Vivian had worked as a hairdresser for over 40 years.
She was a member of Davis Street Christian Church.
Vivian enjoyed taking road trips, visiting the Mississippi River and painting. She loved spending time with family and her beloved dogs.
Surviving is a daughter, Nita (Mark) Songer of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Megan (Lewis), Chris and Kyle; six great grandchildren, Skyler, Griffin, Patrick, Brody, Huxley and Aria.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Percy Leaver.
Her body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 19th at Davis Street Christian Church with Rev. Dr. Terry Wise officiating. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Dog Star Sanctuary or Davis Street Christian Church.
