An Ottumwa woman faces charges after allegedly drunk driving with her underage daughters.
32-year-old Luz Rios was charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent person, class C felonies, and OWI -2nd offense, an aggravated misdemeanor.
On September 6 at 8:34 p.m, court records say Rios was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 34 and Ferry Street Extension. Authorities say Rios had watery eyes, slurred and mumbled speech, and an odor of alcohol emitting from her breath. Officers asked Rios to exit the vehicle and she had an unsteady balance. Authorities say Rios had a .245% BAC.
Officers say Rios was operating her vehicle with her 8-year-old and 10-year-old daughters.
According to court records, Rios has a previous OWI conviction.
Rios was taken to the Wapello County Jail. She a $10,000 bond and a preliminary hearing on September 16.
