A woman and intoxicated man of Ottumwa face charges after allegedly fighting in the street.
46-year-old John Tiggs was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct – fighting/violent behavior, and possession of a controlled substance.
21-year-old Diana Ruth was charged with inference with official acts, provided false identification information, and disorderly conduct – fighting.
On September 13, court records say Tiggs and Ruth were fighting in the public road on South Court Street and were in view of officers. Authorities say Tiggs had an odor of alcohol and marijuana emitting from his person. Tiggs had a baggie of marijuana in his pants pocket. Officials say Ruth attempted to walk away from officers multiple times and gave a false identification.
Tiggs and Ruth were transported to the Wapello County Jail. Tiggs waived his preliminary hearing and was released on his own recognizance. Ruth has an initial appearance on October 9.
