An Ottumwa man was allegedly under the influence of mushrooms and attempted to flee from officers.
34-year-old Trenton Furnald was charged with interference with official acts and public intoxication, each are simple misdemeanors.
On September 12, court records say Furnald was reported as a suspicious person trespassing on private property on Meadowdale Street. Authorities say Furnald was observed to have enlarged pupils, an aggressive behavior, and usually body movements. Officers say Furnald admitted to being under the influence of mushrooms. Furnald attempted to flee from officers upon contact and during his arrest.
Furnald was taken to the Wapello County Jail. He is being held without bond pending a hearing with a magistrate judge.
