Dave Lippert, a man known far and wide for his compassionate heart, quirky sense of humor, and creative spirit, decided to take a permanent vacation from life’s responsibilities on September 25, 2024. Born on June 30, 1965 in Bloomfield, IA, Dave was never one to let the dust settle beneath his feet. His zest for life was infectious, and he often remarked that he was simply “too busy living” to bother with growing up. After all, who has time for sleep, because the more wrinkles and grey hair you had, the better life you lived. As proof by the many pies to bake, pranks to plan, and jams and jellies to sell at the farmers market.
Dave was the life of the party at Hy-Vee, where he spent 29 years cutting shapes out of graphics in the bakery and kitchen. He was a lover of animals and all things Halloween, dancing and country music, a pac leader in Boy Scouts, and an honorary Girl Scout leader, rabbit and poultry superintendent for 4H and a fair board member. If there was a craft to be made or an adventure to be had, you could bet your bottom dollar that Dave was the first in line. But his greatest love was his wife, Sherry, who he married on June 29, 1985. He often said she was the jelly to his peanut butter, the lemon juice to his pie, and the light of his life. Together, they had a beautiful family that he treasured more than anything.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Lippert; three children, Nick (Erin) Lippert, Emily (Devin) Wolfe, Amanda (Harley Booth) Lippert; grandchildren, Kaedan, Kesey, J, Sissy, and Mel; mother, Louise Baker; three siblings, Bobby Lippert, Susie (David) Bronson, James (Connie) Lippert, and many more family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lippert; one sister, Sherri Heriford, and his in-laws, David and Jackie Carlberg, and welcomed home with loving arms.
Dave’s family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Thursday, October 03, 2024, at the Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. The visitation will begin at 4:00 pm, followed by a time of sharing at 6:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring their best “Dave stories,” Memorials have been established to the family and will be directed at a later date.
In remembering Dave, we encourage you to channel his loving, funny, and creative spirit. May we all strive to live as fully and love as deeply as he did. We invite you to leave memories and upload photos of Dave to the online memorial page as a tribute to his life well lived. As Dave always said, “I may be gone, but I’m not forgotten. And besides, there’s always room for one more at the party!”
Never grow up, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
