Carla Collett, 72, of Eldon, died at 12:46 p.m. September 15, 2024 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
She was born May 3, 1952 in Bloomfield to Russell Baird and Alice Darlene Fitzgerald. She married Gerald “Jerry” L. Collett April 12, 1990. He preceded her in death August 30, 2019.
A resident of the Ottumwa area all her life, Carla had attended Davis County High School. She received her LPN from Indian Hills Community College and had worked at Bloomfield Manor, Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa for 1 year, St. Joseph Hospital for 10 years and Ottumwa Regional Health Center for 20 years. She also worked and volunteered with Hospice.
Surviving is her son, Brad Wilcox of Kansas City; five grandchildren, Hannah Tennison, Trenton Wilcox, Guy Wilcox, Maria Wilcox, Chase Wilcox; six great grandchild, Landon, Ellaina, Ezra, Sebastian, Aiden and Estrella; two brothers, Bruce Huggins of Milton, Craig Huggins of Pulaski; two half-sisters, Marla Hiatt of TX, Deb Osborn of Cedar Rapids; a half-brother, Gary Baird of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; adopted father, Don Huggins; a son, Chuck Wilcox, Jr.; an infant daughter, Samantha Forsythe.
Her body has been cremated.
Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Thursday, September 19th at Reece Funeral. The family will be present to greet friends 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, September 20th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Frazier officiating.
