Ann Catherine Pixley, 91, of Clive, Iowa (formerly of Ottumwa), passed away peacefully at her home on September 13, 2024.
Ann was born November 30, 1932, in Ottumwa to Frank and Sophia (Thomsen) Parks. She married Wallace “Bud” Pixley on August 20, 1952. Together, they raised three sons—Greg, Jeff, and Mike.
Ann was a 1950 graduate of Ottumwa High School. She earned her teaching degree from Drake University and a bachelor’s degree from Parsons College.
A beloved elementary school teacher in Ottumwa for more than 20 years, Ann had a gift for nurturing others. She was an incredibly kind, caring person who saw the best in everyone and loved nothing more than seeing her family together. Ann was a devoted mother and grandmother, a wonderful cook, a thoughtful giver of gifts, a talented gardener, and an avid traveler. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her sons, Greg (Sue) Pixley of Ottumwa, Iowa; Jeff Pixley of Dubai, UAE; and Mike (Linda) Pixley of Clive, Iowa. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Laura (Darin) Nelson, Brett (Kendra) Pixley, Kate Pixley, and Will Pixley; and four great-grandchildren: Jake Nelson, Tyler Nelson, Emma Scheer, and James Pixley. Other surviving family members include Cherie Miller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jean Philibert of Washington, D.C.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; by her parents; and by her brother, Frank Parks, and half-brother, Harry Parks.
Services are planned for Saturday, Sept. 21, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. A visitation will be held from noon – 1 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service officiated by Pastor Nancy Cameron. Burial will be at Ottumwa Cemetery after the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s name to the Ottumwa Public Library.
