Marsha Marie Simms, a beacon of love and compassion, was born on November 15, 1970, in Iowa City, IA to Lois Repp. A native of Albia, IA, she navigated life’s ups and downs with an unwavering spirit, always ready to share her encompassing warmth and hearty laughter with those around her. As a proud graduate of Albia High School’s class of 1989, Marsha embodied the spirit of her hometown, a testament to her enduring bond with the community she cherished. Her thoughtful nature extended beyond her immediate circle, touching the lives of friends and acquaintances alike, often through daily conversations that were a testament to her genuine interest in people’s lives. Her love for animals was another reflection of her kind heart, her pets over the years were cherished members of her family.
Marsha’s life was beautifully marked by her journey as a mother. She married James Henry Simms on February 7, 1992, a union that blessed her with three amazing children: Amanda Marie, and the twins Joshua James and Jonathan Daniel Simms. As a mother, Marsha was the epitome of love; her children were her world, and she was their biggest fan. Her compassionate spirit remained unbroken even in the face of her personal medical struggles, a testament to her strength and determination.
Marsha’s life was not without its share of hardships. The loss of her firstborn, Amanda, was a blow that left an indelible mark on her heart. Yet, in the face of such tragedies, Marsha’s resilience shone through, her love for her family unyielding.
Marsha Simms, a woman of great strength and greater love, lived her life as an embodiment of the adjectives that best describe her: loving, thoughtful, and compassionate. She leaves behind a legacy of love and determination, a beacon for those she leaves behind. On this day, July 29, 2024, we take solace in the fact that Marsha has joined Amanda in heaven and her mother, Lois Marie, in a reunion that we believe must be filled with joy and peace.
Marsha is survived by her sons, Joshua (Lillian) Simms of Albia and Jonathan Simms of Ottumwa. She is also survived by her uncles, Delbert Repp of Albia; Ronnie (Deb) Repp of Sigourney; and her aunt, Sharry (Bill) Kellogg of Albia. She is also survived by many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois, and her daughter, Amanda.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 6 p.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held before the service from 4-6 p.m., with family present to greet friends. Memorials have been established for the family, for a later donation to the Heartland Humane Society in Marsha’s honor.
