Pella Regional Celebrates First Birth in New C-Section Operating Room

Pella Regional Health Center is delighted to announce the birth of Leah King, the first baby welcomed into its newly added C-Section operating room within the expanded Family Birthing Center.

Born on July 5, 2024, at 7:41 am, Leah weighed 8 pounds 15 ounces and was delivered by surgeon Dr. JD Welander, assisted by Dr. Elizabeth Wooster-Pierson, with Dr. Anne Hellbusch.

Leah’s parents, Jordan and Liesel King, expressed their gratitude for the exceptional care received at Pella Regional Health Center. “All of our babies, including Leah, were born at Pella Regional Health Center via C-section,” said Liesel King. “It was wonderful to be able to stay together with the baby during recovery and then simply move a few steps down to our room afterwards. It made the entire experience so much more comfortable.”

The addition of the dedicated C-Section operating room is part of Pella Regional’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art obstetric care to the community. The facility’s design ensures that mothers and newborns receive specialized care in a comfortable and supportive environment.

“We are thrilled to have celebrated Leah’s birth as our first in this new surgical suite,” remarked Jessica Bolkema, BSN, Director of Obstetrics, “Her arrival emphasizes our dedication to advancing maternity care and delivering exceptional experiences for families.”

Funded in part by community donations from the Pella Regional Health Center Foundation, the new operating room is equipped with the latest technology to enhance patient outcomes and safety. It represents a significant milestone in Pella Regional’s ongoing mission to provide top-tier and compassionate healthcare services.
