Ottumwa Man Faces Numerous Charges Following Traffic Stop

An Ottumwa man faces a litany of charges after drugs were discovered in a vehicle following a traffic stop last week.

21-year-old Cole O’Leary-Thudium has been charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, three counts of failure to affix a drug tax stamp, driving while barred, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On March 17th at 1:07 AM, court documents say an officer from the Ottumwa Police Department saw O’Leary-Thudium, whose driver’s license was barred, driving a car. The officer initiated a traffic stop and detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and began a probable cause search.

The search unveiled 11.3 grams of cocaine, 96.7 grams of marijuana, 60 pills of Clonazepam, and pipes used for smoking marijuana and methamphetamine, according to the criminal complaint.

O’Leary-Thudium was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail where his bail has been set at $37,000.
