Robert “Bob” Eugene Dlouhy, 75, of Fairfield, IA passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29,2023 at the Cranston Family Funeral Home (2805 W. Burlington Ave.) in Fairfield, IA with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield beginning at 2:00 p.m. with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. For those unable to attend the service please join the webcast which can be accessed through Bob’s obituary page on our website. Memorial contributions in Bob’s honor may be directed to Iowa Home Care or to a veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice. Robert Eugene Dlouhy was born on November 1, 1947, in Iowa City, IA to Robert and Bertie King Dlouhy. Bob attended school in Fairfield, graduating with the Fairfield High School Class of 1965. Upon graduation Bob joined the United States Navy where he proudly served his country during Vietnam. After his honorable discharge from the service, he returned to Iowa and began working for Stanley Consultants in Muscatine. He was trained in construction drafting and engineering and would eventually transfer to Atlanta, GA where he became an avid Atlanta Braves Fan. Bob worked for several companies before starting his own business and moving his headquarters to the Virgin Islands. Bob was always a free spirit who was always living his life to the fullest. While in the Virgin Islands he was able to fulfill his love of sailing. He was most at peace on the open water and even was part of an ocean sailing competition team. Bob enjoyed
working on old cars and listening to his favorite music. His memory will be cherished by his family and the many friends he made while living his best life.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, Gary Dlouhy and Penny Eklund; two brothers-in-law, Mark Eklund and Eddie Spees, and his beloved dog, Casper.

Left to share his story are his siblings, Dee Spees of Fairfield, IA, Pat (Dennis) Davis of Batavia, IA, and Richard (Kristi) Dlouhy of Pinehurst, NC; ten loved nieces and nephews, as well as many extended friends and family. A special thank you to the good friends and neighbors who helped with trips to appointments, Doctors, or just checked in for a good visit.
