John Andrew Dallas Minter, age 85, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was born on November 5, 1937, in Fredrick, Iowa, the son of James and Florence (Scott) Minter. He attended Eddyville High School and during that time he took some classes through his employer. He graduated with the Class of 1955. On July 12, 1957, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Sandra Taylor, in Oskaloosa.

John began work, helping out at the farm. He later worked at Nick’s Greenhouse in Pella until taking a job at Rolscreen (Pella Corp), working for 38 years as an industrial engineer until retiring. John also owned a rental house business as well as his carpet cleaning business. He and Sandra were both members of the First Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa where John helped out as custodian. John enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard, and enjoyed trips to the Ozarks.

His family includes his wife of 65 years, Sandra Minter; his children, Peggy (Jim) Hughes, Rodney Minter and Kendall (Jerri) Minter; 7 grandchildren, Nick (Heidi) Hughes, Adam (Janie) Hughes, C.J. Minter, Isaac (Katlynn) Minter, Sarah Minter, Joshua (River) Minter and Timothy Minter; 16 great grandchildren, Maddison (Bracken) Taylor, Maisie (Jason) Pilcher, Brandt Hughes, Blake Hughes, Myleigh Hughes, Meadow Hughes, Bryant Hughes, Grace Minter, Savannah (Minter) Appleget, Violet Minter, Addilynn Minter, Elliot Minter, Mayank Hughes, Jyothi Hughes, Ava Minter and Oliver Minter; 2 great-great grandchildren, Zander Taylor and Rayleigh Pilcher. He is also survived by a brother, Mearl Minter and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son in infancy, Collin Minter and a sister-in-law, Donna Minter.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastors Nick Hughes and Mike Dotson officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Open visitation will begin Tuesday, November 15, after 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral chapel with no family present. Memorials may be made to the family.
