Margaret Ellen Sharp, age 83, of Harlingen, TX, formerly of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 14, 2022.

Margaret was born in Fairfield, Iowa on March 30, 1939, the daughter of Lynn Reece and Erlys Griffin Coghlan. She grew up in Fremont, IA. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to Robert William Sharp on February 26, 1961 in Fremont, Iowa. They were married for 61 years.

Bob and Margaret were charter members of the Schuyler County, MO, ambulance service during their years of living in Lancaster, MO. She was a cub scout leader in Lancaster, MO. Bob and Margaret were also long-term members of the Lancaster Jaycees. She worked for Jackson Insurance Agency in Lancaster, MO. In 1980, they moved to West Des Moines, IA. She worked for 16 years at Preferred Risk Insurance in claims, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Marion Street Methodist Church in Boone, IA.

During her years of retirement, Bob and Margaret enjoyed spending time in Texas and Iowa. They also enjoyed many years at their cabin near Albia, IA. They took many trips and cruises all over the world. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She had a love for flower gardening, reading, bird watching, golf and cats. She especially loved being a grandmother and a great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

She is survived by two sons, William (Bill) Sharp and wife, Susan of Boone, IA and Mark Sharp of Rio Hondo, TX; one granddaughter, Josephine (Ben) Yohnke of Boone, IA; and two great granddaughters, Melody and Magnus Yohnke. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Jeannie (Russell) Dinger of Mansfield, OH; and several nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, October 24th at Fremont United Methodist Church in Fremont, IA with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Visitation with her family present to greet friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
