Joyce Stufflebeem, age 88, of Centerville, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Altoona Nursing and Rehab.

Joyce was born on April 15, 1934 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Iva Mae (Underwood) Forbes.  She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1951.  On May 31, 1952, Joyce was united in marriage to Jack Stufflebeem at the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville. 

Joyce owned and operated J&J Grocery and was a secretary for Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church for a period of time.  Alongside her husband Jack, the couple then bought One of a Kind, located just off the west side of the Centerville square.  She subsequently worked as the Treasurer and Bookkeeper for Dale Church in Centerville while owning and operating One of a Kind.  She kept One of a Kind going for over 25 years.

Joyce enjoyed painting and playing the organ.  She was never without a book, and would read any chance she got.  She cherished her family and the time she spent with them.  Joyce was a prior member of the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church, and was a current member of the Dale Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Terry (Sherri) Stufflebeem of Des Moines, Greg (Sherrylee) Stufflebeem of Lyons, Oregon, and Brad Stufflebeem of Albia; her grandchildren, Meredith (Dave) Smith, Megan Stufflebeem, Ryan (Rosa) Stufflebeem, Justin Stufflebeem, Sean (Patty) Stufflebeem, Nathan (Amanda) Stufflebeem, Thomas (Elliott) Stufflebeem Scott, Tessa (Travis) Isaac, Cessna Stufflebeem, and Piper Stufflebeem; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Beulah Jean Thompson; her brother-in-law, Dick (Connie) Stufflebeem of Ankeny; as well as several extended family members.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Stufflebeem; her parents, Walter and Iva Mae Forbes; an infant daughter, Jerolyn; and two siblings, Virginia Moffitt and LaVern Forbes.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, October 7, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastors Gerald and Rodney Campbell officiating.  Visitation will take place Friday, October 7, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 9-10AM.  A memorial has been established to the Dale Church and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA, 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com or on our funeral home Facebook page.
