Robert Eugene Creek, 93, of Batavia, IA passed away on September 2, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa, IA. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon, IA with Pastor Tom Shipley officiating. Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be held at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon, IA on Saturday, September 10, 2022, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and will last until the time of service. Memorial contributions in Robert’s honor may be directed to the family to be decided at a later date. Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Robert “Bob” Creek was born to Raymond “Cap” and Wilma Fite Creek in their home in Batavia, IA on June 29, 1929. He graduated from Batavia High School with the class of 1947. Bob married Shirley Best of Ottumwa on October 6, 1949, at the Open Bible Church of Ottumwa, where they were both members. They were married for over 71 years.

While in high school Bob worked for his Uncle Raleigh Creek, setting and moving houses. After high school he began working at John Morrells in Ottumwa on the loading dock. Bob then drove a milk delivery route. Eventually he started working with his father at their family business of Creek Oil Company in Batavia. At this time, Bob and Shirley moved to the country and started a dairy farm that
they owned and operated for 21 years. After the dairy farm Bob became in independent, over the road truck driver, which eventually worked into team truck driving with his wife Shirley for Rose Way Trucking out of Des Moines, IA.

Robert was an active member of his community. He served on the Batavia City Council, Jefferson County Saddle Club, and was the Trustee for Locust Grove Township. Some of his hobbies included raising and showing quarter horses with his children, announcing horse shows in Jefferson County, camping at lake Rathbun with family and friends and recanting memories. Bob never knew a stranger
and enjoyed visiting with everyone he met.

Those left to cherish his memory are two children, Cindy (Rick) Bennett of Batavia, IA and Randy (Carletta) Creek of Agency, IA; six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a great grandson, his only sibling, Donna Boling and his loving wife Shirley.
