Kimberly C. Plate, 57, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the MHP Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa. She was born January 29, 1965, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Diane Wanders Plate. She graduated from Pella Christian High School with the class of 1983. Following high school, she completed the cosmetology program at Iowa School of Beauty in Marshalltown. She returned to Oskaloosa and went to work as a hair stylist at Regis in the Penn Central Mall. In August of 1990, she was united in marriage to Jay Anderson at the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. After a short time in Oskaloosa the family moved to Wellman, Iowa. Kim took a job as a teacher’s aide at the Mid-Prairie School District in Wellman, Iowa. In 2004, Kim and Jay divorced, and Kim returned to Oskaloosa. After a year in Oskaloosa, she moved to Pella and worked at Vermeer and Pella Corporation. She later moved to Newton, it was while living in Newton that she completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology. Last she moved to Oskaloosa to be closer to her family. She enjoyed riding her Harley Davidson Motorcycles, all of which she named, looming, crafting, scrapbooking, and tending to her plants and garden. She was always looking to help those in need around her. Most of all she delighted in tormenting her children and spoiling her grandchildren.

Her family includes her three children, Jill (Jordan) Emmick of Zeeland, Michigan, Austin (Jessica) Anderson of Wellman, and Breanna Anderson of Montezuma; seven grandchildren, Declan Emmick, Graysen Emmick, Lincoln Emmick, Lennon Emmick, Acre Anderson, Addelyn Anderson, and Aaden Anderson; six siblings and their spouses, Debra and Dennis Rooda of Harvey, Iowa, Regin and Michelle Plate of Magnolia, Texas, Russell and Angela Plate of Oskaloosa, Quentin and Gena Plate of Oskaloosa, Kristin and Troy Lang of Pleasant Hill, and Brennan and Jenny Plate of Delta; her bonus mom, Ida Mae Plate of Freeman, South Dakota; Ida Mae’s family, Blanche (Jody) Hoff, Nicole (Dustin) Hill, Jerome (Sarah) Lang, and Caleb Lang; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa with Pastor Mike Sereg officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin August, 4, 2022, after 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church and the family will be at the church from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Bethany Christian Services
