Heat Advisory Issued for Tuesday

A heat advisory is scheduled to go into effect for parts of southeast Iowa tomorrow.

The National Weather Service’s forecast for Tuesday shows a high of 97 degrees in Ottumwa. Heat index values are estimated to be between 105 and 107 degrees. The heat advisory will be in effect from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday.

High heat indexes are expected in Wapello, Davis, Mahaska, Marion, and Monroe County.

Suggested precautionary measures include drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun, and checking up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should not be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstance.
