Warrior baseball gets redemption with an 8-7 win over Bulldogs

The Van Buren County Warriors upset 2A (RV) Mediapolis Bulldogs 8-7 to advance to the 2A District 11 Final Saturday

The Warriors would win a see-saw game against the district 11 top seed Mediapolis 8-7. The Bulldogs would score early runs in the second and the third innings to lead 2-0 after three innings. The Warriors would cut the lead to 2-1 when Izaak Loeffler came around and scored to cut the Bulldog lead 2-1 after the fourth. The Warriors would surge in the fifth inning when they sent eleven batters to the plate. The Warriors would tally five runs, highlighted by a 2 run single by Bailey Roen and an RBI single from Tyler Stoltz. The Warriors would add the lead 6-2 to the bottom of the fifth. The Bulldogs would cut the Warrior lead to 6-4 after six innings with Kamden Stotlar and Aidan Danz RBIs. The Warriors would strand two runners in the top of the seventh. The Bulldogs would make things interesting in the bottom of the seventh. The Bulldogs got RBIs from Jaxon Brooks, Kyler Crow, and Kamden Stotlar to cut the lead to 8-7. Lukas McEntee would throw out Stotlar at the plate in the bottom of the seventh to help secure the win. Jackson Manning would strike out Grady Gunn to close out the win.

With the win, the Warriors improve to 12-15 and advance to Saturday night’s game vs Mid-Prairie, for Mediapolis they wrap up the season with a record 19-5

For the Warriors: Taylor Sprouse picked up the win and Jackson Manning collected the save, Tyler Stoltz had 3 RBIs, and Bailey Roen had 2 RBIs
