In the District 13 final between two South Central Conference teams that made the state tournament last year, it was a sophomore pitcher for Davis County that made the biggest impact after a rocky start to his outing.

Nolan Cremer entered the game with the bases loaded and one out in the fourth inning with the Mustangs leading Centerville 3-0. Cremer committed a balk to force in the first Big Red run. A single and sacrifice fly tied the score.

After the Mustangs reclaimed the lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth, Cremer retired the next nine Centerville batters in order to preserve the 4-3 Davis County win.

Davis County touched up Centerville starter Brody Tuttle in the first inning after he suffered a momentary lapse of control.

Tuttle hit Dawson Townsend in the face with a pitch who stayed in the game after a long pause on the field. Dalton Reeves was hit by the next pitch by Tuttle then Cremer walked to load the bases.

Easton White drew a bases loaded walk for the first Mustang run. One batter later, Aidan Fowler drove in a pair of runs with a single to stake Davis County to a 3-0 lead.

After Centerville tied the score in the top of the fourth inning, the Mustangs immediately responded. Presley Cantrell lined a double into the left field corner to lead off the bottom of the fourth. Justin Matheney sacrificed Cantrell to third. Jasper Goodson was summoned to pinch run for Cantrell.

With a drawn in infield, Caedyn Glosser hit a grounder to Centerville third baseman Sylar Esias. Goodson broke for home and was able to slide under the tag of catcher Sabin Esias for what turned out to be the game-winning run.

Davis County (22-11) will play Interstate 35 (23-6) Tuesday night at Pella High School. The winner will advance to the state tournament.
