Davis County ended its regular season in Eddyville where EBF took a doubleheader from the Mustangs to earn at least a share of the South Central Conference on Thursday.

In the opening game, the Mustangs managed just one hit as EBF’s starting pitcher Carson Wade twirled a shutout in the 4-0 Rocket win.

Davis County’s defense faltered in the fifth and sixth innings which led to four unearned runs for EBF.

In the nightcap, the Mustangs couldn’t hold a 5-1 lead as the Rockets rallied for a 7-5 win. EBF sent nine men to the plate in the sixth inning to take the lead. Three straight RBI singles by Ethan Davis, Braxton Malloy, and Skyler Young put the Rockets out in front to stay.

In the seventh inning, Ethan Davis pitched around an error and a double by Nolan Cremer to secure the win.

Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, Presley Cantrell tied the score with an RBI single.

A sacrifice fly by Dalton Reeves and an RBI single by Cremer gave Davis County a 3-1 lead in the third inning. An inning later, Dawson Townsend hit a two-run double for a 5-1 lead.

Davis County (20-11, 12-6 in South Central Conference) will open the postseason at the Mustang Sports Complex on Tuesday. The Mustangs will play the winner of Saturday’s opening round game between Albia and Pella Christian.
