Panthers use big second inning to knock off the Lions

The Pekin Panthers knocked off the Lone Tree Lions 13-1 in six innings

The Panthers and Lions sat scoreless after one inning of play. However, the Panthers had a big second inning scoring 6 runs to lead 6-0 after two. The Panthers would strike again in the third inning with another 3 runs added to lead 9-0 after three. After a could scoreless innings the Panthers would strike again in the sixth this time for another four runs, the Lions would add one run in the bottom of the sixth but it would not be enough. The Panther pitching of Chase Stansberry went the distance tossing 6 innings of work, collecting the win while giving up 1 walk, 3 hits, 1 run and striking out 11 batters.

With the win the Panthers are now 3-6, and the loss drops the Lions to 2-5

Up next for the Panthers they play host to Louisa-Muscatine (2-6) on Tuesday a game that can be heard on Kiss FM (101.5 FM), for Lone Tree they are on the road at Wapello (1-3)
