Davis County’s rally fell short in a 6-4 loss at Moravia, sending the Mustangs to their third straight loss on Monday.

After Caedyn Glosser led off the game with a home run on the first pitch for Davis County, Moravia took control with five unanswered runs as the Mohawks had contributions up and down their lineup.

Five different Mohawks drove in a run. Lead-off hitter Wyatt Throckmorton was 2-4 with an RBI, run scored, and a stolen base.

Glosser was 3-4 with a home run and 3 RBI. His RBI single in the fifth made it a 5-2 game before Moravia answered with a run in the bottom of the inning.

Trailing 6-2 heading into the seventh inning, Davis County scored runs on another Glosser RBI single and an RBI ground out by Dawson Townsend. The Mustangs managed to put the tying run on base but Carson Seals struck out Dalton Reeves to end the game.

Gage Hanes earned the win for Moravia. He pitched 4.1 innings and allowed two runs on six hits. Hanes walked one and struck out five.

Townsend took the loss. He allowed five runs on five hits over three innings. Townsend walked three and struck out one.

Mustang pitchers administered eight walks.

Davis County (12-5) will play host to Central Lee on Tuesday night in Bloomfield.
