Kathleen Joan Kimm was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on June 20, 2022.

Kathleen was born in Sully, Iowa on April 22nd, 1941 to John and Catherine (Smith) Ver Steegt. The highlights of her childhood included caring for her little sister, Linda, helping deliver her baby brother, Larry, and learning to play the piano and coronet.

Kathleen was an avid reader and letter writer. She enjoyed watching Star Trek, Walker, Texas Ranger, and many crime shows. In her later years, she found great joy in her flowers and watching the birds and wildlife.

Two decisions defined her identity throughout her life: marrying her husband, Karol, and accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior. Karol and Kathleen were faithfully married for 56 years. Whatever Karol pursued; Kathleen was sure to support. For many years, she participated in Toastmasters and played piano weekly for services at several nursing homes in her local community. Kathleen had a passion for sharing the gospel through Child Evangelism Fellowship, taught Sunday School and Girls Meeting God. She assisted with the Awana children’s program, and faithfully supported and wrote letters to a number of missionaries. In addition, she contributed financially to a variety of parachurch organizations.

Kathleen is survived by her children: Barb (Ron) Shaffer, Bob (Cindy) Kimm, Kevin Kimm, Karmen (Stephen) Kimm, and Jon Kimm; 3 grandsons, 9 granddaughters, and 15 great grandchildren; her sister, Linda (Fred) Cox and sisters-in-law, Janice Ver Steegt and Barb Ver Steegt.

She has now joined her parents, her husband, grandson, Michael Shaffer, brothers, Dale Ver Steegt and Larry Ver Steegt, and sister, Irene Ver Steegt in heaven.
