An annual event to raise money for smoke detectors has been set for May.
The Evans Middle School Student Council will be holding the 15th Annual Fire and Ice Ice Cream Social at Ottumwa’s North Fire Station. This years event is set for May 3 from 5-7 p.m. The event features ice cream as well as tours of the fire department. The goal is to raise at least $1,000 for the purchase of smoke detectors for families in Wapello County.
Free will donations will be accepted and parking is available behind the fire station. Sponsors for this year’s event include Culvers, Ottumwa Fire Department, and Evans Middle School.
